Effect of Ratio of Specimen Length / Crack Length on Crack Path Trajectories The ratio of the specimen length and the initial crack length (w/a) was expected to be important for crack stability. Accordingly, PMMA specimens with different values of w/a were tested. The crack length (a) was varied from 12.7mm (0.5’’), to 25.4mm (1’’), and 38.1mm (1.5’’) while the value of w=101.6 mm (4’’) was kept constant; thus w/a equaled 8, 4, and 2.67. The other dimensions were the same as those for the CT specimen. The crack paths are shown in Fig. 6. Fig. 6.
