In this way, the OL location is outside of field of view of the cameras (right of the Figs. 8.12b and 8.13b). For each stereo camera configuration, a stereo calibration procedure was performed. The behavior exhibited in Figs. 8.11, 8.12 and 8.13 is compatible with the phenomenon of discontinuous closure reported by Fleck [1]. Moreover, the inspection of the strain field maps extracted from DIC analysis illustrates the high crack-tip plasticity created near the OL location.
