350 G. Ou and S.J. Dyke loading path. RTHSMU results are compared with RTHS and conventional simulation, both with modeling errors with different extents. The advantages of RTHSMU appear at both local and global level, it is believed with incorporating model updating the testing fidelity is improved. Due to the existing challenges in model updating implementation, there is a tradeoff between modeling error tolerance of the nonlinear components in the numerical parts and the efforts on applying the model updating algorithms to RTHS at the testing planning stage.
