Modal Analysis Topics, Volume 3

The greatest advantage of the FNMT phase-stepping approach is that the mode shapes are measured directly, so no postprocessing is necessary (beyond the stereophotogrammetry calculations required to determine displacements of course). Unfortunately, time- and frequency-domain results cannot be obtained. To address this deficiency, tests were conducted using high-speed cameras which satisfy Shannon’s sampling criteria.
